Garlic-Mushroom Swiss Burgers
Swiss cheese and garlicky sautéed mushrooms make a great flavor combo for topping a juicy, grilled burger.
- Ingredients:
- 8 ounces cremini or white button mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, very finely chopped
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 4 hamburgers (1/4 lb each)
- 4 thick slices Swiss cheese
- 4 hamburger rolls
Preparation:
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and sauté until fragrant, 1 minute, then add the mushrooms and continue cooking until any liquid they have given off has evaporated and they're nicely browned. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
While grilling the burgers, place a portion of mushrooms on top of each burger 2 minutes after you turn them to the second side. Top each immediately with a slice of cheese and finish grilling, about 1 minute. Remove from the grill and allow the burgers to rest for 5 minutes. Transfer to rolls and serve.
