Just grab a cake from the bakery on your next trip to the grocery, and you can have a red, white and blue star-spangled cake in about 10 minutes.

What you'll need ~

  • A plain store-bought cake (we did red velvet with buttercream frosting)
  • Star-shaped fondant cutters (like these)
  • Red and blue fruit leather
  • Fresh strawberries and blueberries

1. Lay out a sheet of wax paper on your work surface.

2. Cut stars out of the red and blue fruit leather. You can experiment with different sizes.

3. Attach the stars to the frosting of the cake.

4. Garnish with fresh strawberries and blueberries.

5. Serve and enjoy your no-fuss patriotic dessert!
