Spooky Halloween Candle Holders

With a few simple materials and some parental supervision, this fun, kid-friendly craft project for Halloween is a snap for the kids to make!

What you'll need ~

  • Glass jars (various sizes), labels removed
  • Crepe paper streamers in Halloween colors
  • Black construction paper
  • Mod Podge
  • Scissors
  • Halloween stencils
  • Foam brush
  • Tealight candles (LED battery-operated are kid safe!)

Set up a work space for you & the kids - wax paper is a good choice since it doesn't stick - and pour some Mod Podge into a plastic cup (thinned very slightly with water).

For younger kids, you should use stencils and scissors to cut out Halloween shapes from black construction paper. Older children can use safety scissors to do it themselves.

Next, tear crepe paper into about 2-inch pieces. Using the foam brush, apply the Mod Podge to the outer surface of the jar in sections. Apply the strips while it's still sticky. Once the paper completely covers the jar, brush another coat of Mod Podge on top.

Apply the black construction paper silhouette and brush Mod Podge on top. Allow to dry completely before adding the battery-operated tealight candles. Turn out the lights & enjoy the spooky glow!
